High‐Resolution Reverse Offset Printed Electroluminescent Multipixel Arrays for Scalable Future Wearable Displays
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study explores the effects of pixel size and spacing when fabricating electroluminescent (EL) multipixel displays, with the aim of creating high‐resolution EL displays for wearable applications. Screen printing is initially employed to fabricate the EL pixel arrays, establishing baseline performance and identifying challenges such as resolution limitations and electric field fringe effects. COMSOL simulations are conducted to investigate the impact of pixel dimensions and spacing on electric field distribution and subsequent lighting efficiency. Building on these insights, reverse offset printing (ROP) is employed, for the first time, to fabricate high‐resolution EL pixel arrays achieving a 96% reduction in pixel size and up to 10 times the luminous intensity of screen‐printed counterparts, while maintaining flexibility and scalability. This research highlights the impact high‐resolution printing has on EL display performance and the potential of ROP for advancing EL display technology, enabling the development of lightweight, flexible, and high‐performance visual interfaces for wearable electronics.
