Abstract: The article examines the image of the sister as one of the key ones for the works of V. M. Shukshin, characteristic of many of his fiction texts, including the last. Natalya Makarovna was the writer's younger sister, friend, assistant. V. M. Shukshin worried about her and the children, who were left without a father early, was interested in her social circle, showed all kinds of care: he often called, wrote letters, sent money. In last years, the writer supplemented and refined the previously created characters, images, plots. Therefore, large-format works based on stories appear. The latet fiction texts created by him in the last five years of his life, in which images of sisters are found, were the following large-format works: "Snowball Berry Red", "Call Me to the Light Far", "Energetic People", "I Came to Give You Freedom", "Quintessence of the Soul". Many of the analyzed images are created based on autobiographical memories. However, the problem of the methods of its artistic embodiment in the later works of the master of words remains unclear.
