Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the metaphorical models functioning in the poetic texts of Vladimir Volkovets, representing the basic concept forest. The authors consider the theory of metaphors in a poetic text highlighting the oppositional model of representing metaphorical images, the model of sequential analogy, the concentric model, the step model and the circular and intersecting models of representation of metaphorical images. The article presents the semantic analysis of Volkovet’s poems about the forest, and also identifies metaphorical models of the poetic text. The image of forest in the author’s works is presented together with such concepts as fire, snow, wood, wind, trail, grass, old man, cedar, pines. As a result, the authors identify the following metaphorical models characterizing the author’s worldview: the forest is a savior, the forest is a gray-haired old man, the forest is a sponge, the forest is fate, the forest is a source of life. The practical application of the materials of the article is possible within the framework of research devoted to the study of the linguistic worldview of the writers of small-numbered peoples in general and the author’s worldview of Vladimir Volkovets, in particular.
