Enhancing Diagnostic Accuracy in Healthcare: the Role of Artificial Intelligence and Its Ethical, Technological, and Legal Implications
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In the realm of healthcare, the efficacy of healthcare systems is paramount, with accurate diagnosis serving as a cornerstone of effective treatment. However, the prevalence of misdiagnoses and failures to diagnose highlights a critical need for innovative solutions.Emergency rooms, characterized by their high-stress environments, are particularly susceptible to diagnostic errors. The rapid advancement of technology has revolutionized healthcare systems, products, and services, necessitating adaptation by modern enterprises.Among these innovations, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a promising tool to mitigate diagnostic challenges, albeit accompanied by significant technological, ethical, and regulatory concerns. This thesis aims to investigate the multifaceted implications of integrating AI into healthcare, focusing on its potential to enhance diagnostic accuracy. The initial literature review establishes a theoretical foundation for the subsequent analysis and aids in the development of a conceptual framework.Findings indicate that AI has achieved a level of sophistication capable of surpassing human diagnostic capabilities while alleviating healthcare professionals of certain administrative burdens. However, challenges persist, including legal constraints on patient data access and the imperative to eliminate racial bias from AI algorithms. This research underscores the necessity for a balanced approach to AI implementation in healthcare, ensuring that technological advancements align with ethical standards and legal requirements to optimize patient outcomes.
