Best proximity for Istrăţescu mappings on generalized metric spaces

Abstract: This paper presents existence and uniqueness results of best proximity points using the setting of Jleli-Samet generalized metric space. Various generalizations of the classes of contraction mappings of Istrăţescu type, obtained by taking the sum of distances between a number of points weighted by positive constants with adequate properties, are studied from this point of view. Applications of these outcomes are presented with regard to the fixed point theory.
