Analysis of the Source, Word Formation, and Reasons for the Popularity of Internet Pop Words—A Case Study of Internet Pop Words from 2019 to 2023

Abstract: 以《咬文嚼字》和《语言文字周报》发布的十大网络流行语为研究对象，系统分析近五年网络流行语的来源和造词法，发现其来源主要集中在方言词、古语词、外来词、行业语、文娱影视、社会热点和社交平台用语七个方面。结合实例将网络流行语的造词法分为词法学造词法、谐音造词法、简缩造词法、借用造词法和修辞学造词法五大类。分析总结网络流行语的流行原因。 Taking the top ten internet buzzwords published in “YAOWEN-JIAOZI” and “Language and Writing Weekly” as research objects, this study systematically analyzes the sources and word formation of internet buzzwords in the past five years, and finds that their sources are mainly concentrated in seven aspects: dialect words, archaic words, loanwords, industry language, entertainment and film, social hotspots, and social platform language. Combining examples, the word formation of internet slang can be divided into five categories: lexical formation, homophonic formation, abbreviated formation, borrowed formation, and rhetorical formation to analyze and summarize the reasons for the popularity of internet slang.
