Abstract: Steroid-resistant podocytopathy (SR-podocytopathy) is one of the most challenging forms of nephrotic syndrome (NS). This clinical entity includes focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and minimal change disease (MCD), and is associated with a high risk of progression to end-stage kidney disease with the high risk of recurrence after kidney transplant. Despite improvements in immunosuppressive regimens, such as calcineurin inhibitors, mycophenolate mofetil, and the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab, a significant proportion of patients remain refractory.
