Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This comprehensive study explores the psychological benefits derived from arts education among adolescents. Using a descriptive survey research design, data were collected from 300 secondary school students across Chennai, Tamil Nadu, using stratified random sampling. The instruments included structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, validated by experts with a Cronbach alpha reliability of 0.82. Results revealed that 87% of students experienced reduced stress levels, 79% reported improved self-confidence and emotional regulation, and 72% showed enhanced cognitive abilities. Arts education also improved social skills in 76% of respondents. These findings support the integration of arts into school curricula to promote emotional well-being, self-esteem, and personal development. This paper recommends robust policy reforms and educational practices to ensure widespread access to arts education in India, especially for youth.
