Abstract: The article on the example of the third session of the joint Soviet-Chinese scientific council on the problem of the Amur River (1959) considers the ideas of scientists on the development of the Amur River. The purpose of the paper is to show what ideas of scientists on the development of the region were available at the end of joint expeditions of the Amur River basin. The author poses the problem: What branches of the national economic complex of the Far East were proposed to develop? By scientists, the author means Soviet scientists from central institutes who offered their ideas on the development of the region. By Priamurye we mean the historical and geographical area in the south of the Russian Far East, which includes the left-bank basin of the middle and lower reaches of the Amur River south of the Stanovy Ridge and the Uda Bay of the Sea of Okhotsk. The author identifies conditions that influenced the creation of specific ideas, such as economic zoning and cooperation with China due to the proximity of ideological platforms, which allowed the development of border territories. To summarize, it can be concluded that the session included proposals for the development of Priamurye, which included such sectors of the national economic complex as: hydropower and the creation of hydroelectric facilities in the region to combat floods, logistics, namely the creation of appropriate infrastructure for the development of other areas of the national economic complex, analysis of the resource potential for the potential for the development of heavy industry in the region. The main source for the preparation of the article was the material of the Scientific Archive of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
