Abstract: In this paper we analyze and describe the results of the World Values Survey for Puerto Rico in 1995, 2001, and 2018. We inquired: What are the religious habits and beliefs of Puerto Rican individuals surveyed by the IVS over 23 years? The results show that the younger group that was surveyed prays less, attends mass less frequently, and is generally less religious. The vast majority still believe in God (82%) and considered religion important in their lives (65%). Nearly half of those surveyed (46%) believed that Hurricane María changed their religious beliefs. We observed significant changes in religious beliefs in Puerto Rico according to the IVS data. These changes could be linked to recent events such as Hurricane María (2017).
