Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Background: Patient satisfaction is a key element in evaluating care quality and the patient perspective for those with rheumatic diseases [1-4]. Objectives: To evaluate patient satisfaction with nursing consultations in the rheumatology department of our hospital. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study involving patients with rheumatic diseases. Data collection was conducted through a satisfaction survey developed for this purpose, consisting of 18 items. Responses ranged from 1 "Strongly Agree (SA)" to 5 "Strongly Disagree (SD)" (5-point Likert scale). The items were selected jointly with the rheumatology team, extracting the most relevant elements from the Leeds Satisfaction Questionnaire applicable to our context. The survey included aspects such as kindness and quality of care, accessibility, patient information, shared decision-making, resolution of doubts, ease of contacting the team via telephone/online, and overall satisfaction. The survey was distributed in two anonymous ways: 1In-person: after consultations, the nurse provided the survey, which patients deposited in a box outside the consultation room. 2Online: sent via WhatsApp to all patients registered on our phone line. The study was conducted in nursing outpatient consultations over four weeks in November 2024. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 26.00. Results: A total of 317 surveys were included (9 were excluded due to incomplete information). Among the responses, 97% were completed online, and 92% were self-administered; 68% women, the majority had a secondary education level (44%), average mean age was 56,8±13,4years. In most items, patients reported being satisfied or highly satisfied with the care and attention received. However, in certain aspects, such as ease of scheduling an appointment, telephone/online accessibility and the impact of advice on lifestyle habits, there were higher levels of indecision or dissatisfaction (see Table 1). Conclusion: Overall patient satisfaction with nursing consultations in rheumatology was rated positively in most evaluated aspects. However, some areas, such as ease of scheduling appointments, telephone/online accessibility and the impact of advice on lifestyle habits, present opportunities for improvement. Overall, our study indicates that patients value the role of nursing in the comprehensive management of their disease (comorbidity control, self-management, etc.) and are highly satisfied with the care received during nursing consultations.
