Effect of Natural Coagulants in the Turbidity Treatment of a Raw Surface Water Source in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The coagulation process plays a crucial role in treating contaminated water, utilizing either synthetic or natural coagulants.Presently, water treatment plants commonly employ aluminum or iron-based salts and synthetic polymers for coagulation. However, synthetic coagulants have notable drawbacks, including the generation of substantial chemical sludge, significant impact on purified water, pH, high costs and potential environmental toxicity.Various natural coagulants, previously studied for eliminating heavy metals, turbidity, pathogens and contaminants from surface and synthetic water are examined based on criteria such as dosage rates, coagulation-active ingredients and extraction methods.Comparative analyses of studies using both chemical coagulants and natural plant extracts for water treatment are presented. This study will provide the necessary details about the implementation Effect of Natural Coagulants in the Turbidity Treatment of a Raw Surface Water Source in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh https://iaeme.com/Home/journal/JCIET132 [email protected] of natural coagulants in the treatment process of turbid water. It provides the details to identify potential constraints and challenges in adopting natural plant extracts as coagulant for water treatment as well as opportunities and drawbacks for their commercialization.
