“Your Brain Is More Feminine than Your Cellulite”: A Study of the French Magazine Causette (2009-2018)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article contributes to discussions on the interconnection between feminism and the women’s press. For this, 27 issues of the French magazine Causette were studied. From the resulting analysis, it has been possible to construct a framework about the magazine and the feminisms present on its pages, as well as gain a better understanding of the difficulties of commercially maintaining a feminist publication. In looking at the history of Causette, a complex relationship between the media, feminism, and activism, emerged, revealing the magazine’s limits and potentials.
