Abstract: Aim. To analyze current literature data on the functional role of prolactin in physiological processes, as well as the significance of hyperprolactinemia and macroprolactinemia in the pathogenesis of reproductive failures. Key points. Extensive study of the impact of hyperprolactinemia on women's reproductive health has provided a strong evidence base supporting its association with female infertility, which is primarily associated with ovulatory disorders. At the same time, additional research is required within the framework of the large number of debatable issues about the role of hyperprolactinemia in the genesis of reproductive failures that require further study. Recent studies have increasingly confirmed the data that changes in prolactin levels negatively affect not only and not so much the process of ovulation, but also the implantation of the embryo and its further growth. The significance of macroprolactinemia in the structure of hyperprolactinemia as a factor of reproductive failures also remains poorly studied and controversial. Conclusion. The received data on the influence of prolactin levels on embryo implantation open new possibilities for predicting and overcoming reproductive losses. The significance of macroprolactin as a predictor of pregnancy failure is debatable and requires further multicenter studies Keywords: prolactin, hyperprolactinemia, macroprolactinemia, macroprolactin, reproductive failures.
