Riniki Bhuyan Sarma: A Paradigmatic Case Study of Integrated Regional Cultural Entrepreneurship Theoretical Framework and Empirical Analysis

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This comprehensive empirical study examines the multifaceted contributions of Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, a pioneering entrepreneur, media mogul, and cultural preservationist from Assam, India, through the lens of integrated regional development theory.Employing a mixed-methods approach combining systematic literature review, content analysis, theoretical framework synthesis, and comparative case analysis, this research analyzes her transformative impact across media, cultural preservation, and social welfare sectors over a 16-year period (2009)(2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017)(2018)(2019)(2020)(2021)(2022)(2023)(2024)(2025).The study draws upon regional entrepreneurship theory, cultural heritage preservation frameworks, social enterprise theory, and women's empowerment models to construct an original "Integrated Regional Cultural Entrepreneurship Model" (IRCEM) that explains how individual leadership can catalyze broader socio-economic transformation in developing regions.Through systematic analysis of 47 primary sources, 23 comparative cases, and 15 theoretical frameworks, this research demonstrates how Sarma's leadership represents a paradigmatic case of integrated development thinking that transcends traditional sectoral boundaries. The investigation reveals how her leadership of Pride East Entertainment: Northeast India's largest media conglomerate encompassing 5 television channels, 1 newspaper, 1 magazine, and digital platforms alongside her Golden Threads of Assam cultural preservation initiative, Vandhya International School educational leadership, and extensive social welfare programs; generates network capital effects, cultural spillovers, and empowerment cascades that extend beyond traditional business boundaries to create comprehensive regional transformation.
