CATALYTIC AMINOMETHYLATION OF PHENOLS USING Cu(I)-BASED CATALYSTS IMMOBILIZED ON SILICA GEL
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of aminomethylation of phenols using new effective catalysts, which opens up prospects for obtaining aminomethylated derivatives with high activity and a wide range of applications. The authors' group headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences A.G. Ibragimov refers to a previously developed method that uses N,N,N',N'-tetramethylmethanediamine (bisamine) as a reagent for aminomethylation of alkynes in combination with various catalysts based on transition metals such as Cu, V, Sm, which allows achieving high yields of final products. This article discusses in detail a new highly effective method for obtaining aminomethylated phenols that exhibit antimicrobial and bactericidal activity. These compounds are also used as precursors for the synthesis of modern drugs with antispasmodic, antiarrhythmic, anesthetic and diuretic effects, are intensively used in agriculture as effective insecticides and fungicides, and in industry – as antioxidants in lu bricating and motor oils. The experimental part of the study includes a method for the synthesis of 2 [(dimethylamino)methyl]phenols using a copper-based catalyst (CuCl / SiO2), high product yields (96-98%), in addition, the possibility of repeated use of the catalyst without loss of efficiency is confirmed. Thus, the presented results emphasize the promise of using aminomethylation of phenols as a universal approach to the synthesis of compounds with valuable properties. This contributes to the development of both scientific research in the field of organic synthesis of compounds useful for practical application in various fields of the national economy, and the introduction of new technological solutions in the creation of pharmacopoeial drugs for the treatment of socially significant diseases. Particular attention in the article is paid to the role of A.G. Ibragimov as the founder of the modern approach to catalytic aminomethylation of organic compounds using bisamine.
