Abstract: This paper examines the foundational principles and practical strategies for early foreign language learning in pre-primary education. In particular, it draws on the significance of a child-centred, play-based approach that integrates language learning into daily routines and activities. Within these approaches, six guiding principles for early language learning are described. Effective strategies such as circle time, songs, games, storytelling, and peer interaction are discussed, all of which align with principles of developmentally appropriate practice, multi-sensory engagement, and meaningful communication. The paper concludes with implications for educators and suggestions for future research.
