Assessment of the Accuracy and Reliability of the Three Different Devices Measuring Dental Implant Stability: A Comparative Study

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: AIM: The purpose of this research was to evaluate the accuracy as well as reliability of three distinct devices used to measure dental implant stability. MATERIALS AND METHODS: For the current investigation, 45 individuals with one or more missing teeth, aged 18-60 years were enrolled. The implant was inserted into the prepared osteotomy once the osteotomy was completed. Two resonance frequency analysis devices (Osstell, Osstell Mentor) and one damping capacity analysis device (Periotest) were used to measure implant stability. All the participants were evaluated by all the three devices. Readings were obtained at baseline, after 1 month, and after 6 months. Data were recorded and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: Mentor found a mean stability value of 80.12 ± 1.24 and Periotest was 78.02 ± 1.36. But there was no statistically significant difference obtained between three groups. CONCLUSION: mentor is slightly better and more accurate in measuring implant stability.
