Abstract: Foodborne disease transmission is a serious problem because the pathogens that cause it can move from food to humans. This condition becomes more worrying if the pathogen is a bacteria that is resistant to more than one type of antibiotic (multidrug resistance). In this condition, treatment becomes more difficult and expensive. This study aims to determine the characteristics of bacteria isolated from cow intestines (isolate DH10) and confirm the resistance profile to various types of antibiotics. Bacterial characterization was carried out by growing the isolate on selective media and confirmed using the Remel RapIDTM One Panel identification KIT. Antibiotic resistance testing was carried out using the Kirby Bauer method against four types of antibiotics, namely Amoxicillin, Cefotaxime, Gentamicin, and Tetracycline. The results showed that the DH10 isolate was an Escherichia coli bacteria with a similarity level of 99.9% and was resistant to the four antibiotics tested. This finding is a recommendation for the importance of good food handling, in an effort to prevent the spread of resistant bacteria from food. So that the negative impact on human health can be anticipated.
