Abstract: A Mn-catalysed efficient domino process via o -quinone methide formation, Michael addition, intramolecular transesterification and rearrangement to access dihydrocoumarins from 2-hydroxybenzyl alcohol and 4-hydroxy-2 H -chromen-2-one is described.
