Abstract: The problem of surgical complications is widely discussed among neurosurgeons. Despite the presence of a large number of studies, there is uncertainty both in terminology and in the classification of complications. Currently, neurosurgery uses various scales of complications, both general and specific. The review presents the main modern classifications of surgical complications, outlines the underlying approaches, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. The issues of systematization of intraoperative complications are considered separately.
