Abstract: The gymnast training program covers various aspects throughout a multi-year training cycle aimed at gradual development from basic skills to sports mastery. Purpose: to summarize the content of the programmatic-normative provision for the training of young gymnasts in their first year of study at the initial training stage. Methods: theoretical: analysis and summarization of literary sources, systematization, comparison of different views on the studied problem, content analysis of the Youth Sports School Training Program in gymnastics. Results: The document details the key aspects of modern theory and methodology of athlete training, as well as the structure of the training process in gymnastics. An important drawback of the program is that it was prepared and published in the early 2000s, which does not take into account modern achievements in sports. The program needs updating to reflect the increase in athlete preparedness levels and element complexity. All training structures are geared toward achieving the highest level of competitive mastery, particularly on the international stage. The training system and each competition are considered as stages of preparation for major competitions and achieving maximum results. The basic tasks of sports training are: harmonious personal development, mastering modern gymnastics techniques, development of physical qualities (strength, speed, flexibility, endurance), formation of special theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and abilities, psychological training, development of aesthetic qualities. Conclusions: The content of the programmatic-normative provision for the training of young gymnasts in their first year of study at the initial training stage does not meet the modern requirements of the sport and contains outdated and incomplete information that needs improvement.
