Abstract: In its efforts to combat the alarming spread of corruption, the Algerian state has undertaken institutional reforms to strengthen the relevant authorities. As part of the 2020 constitutional revision, a new authority, the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and the Fight against Corruption, was enshrined in the Constitution and assigned oversight functions by being integrated into the chapter dedicated to supervisory authorities.Furthermore, it was granted the status of an authority and structured by a specific law rather than a regulatory framework. However, our research revealed that its composition remains largely subordinate to the executive branch, and its prerogatives are too fragmented to allow it to effectively and efficiently fulfill its mandate.Furthermore, the absence of provincial delegations hinders its functioning from a regional perspective.Citation (Suggested Citation
