THE PECULIARITIES OF PRESENTING THE PROBLEMS OF SCHOOL PERFORMANCE ON THE PAGES OF THE JOURNALS “SOVIET PEDAGOGY” AND “RADYANSKA SCHOOL” (THE 1950s)

Abstract: The article examines the reflection of the problem of academic performance in the leading republican journals of the RSFSR – “Soviet Pedagogy” and the Ukrainian SSR – “Radyanska school”. It has been established that in the 1950s, the concept of recording academic performance was transformed into the plane of testing students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities, which caused a wave of publications on academic performance, record keeping, and assessment of students’ knowledge. The fundamental articles in the journal “Soviet Pedagogy” are presented, which set the tone for public discussion on its pages, which resulted in the formulation of the basic principle of monitoring academic performance in a Soviet school – the presence of a teaching and upbringing component, as well as an individual approach to the student. The article also discusses issues related to ensuring student academic performance in connection with the polytechnicnization of school and teacher requirements in the new environment.
