Development of a multiparameter phantom system for multispectral imaging

Type: article
Abstract: Multispectral imaging enables the visualization of physiological parameters, such as oxygen saturation (SO 2 ) and lipid distribution. Assessing the performance of such imaging techniques necessitates the development of tissue-mimicking phantoms or phantom systems. However, the applicability of existing approaches is constrained by their reliance on homogeneous, unlayered tissue phantom and the absence of traceable reference standards. We propose a multiparameter phantom system featuring bidirectionally tunable SO 2 and a multilayered configuration comprising vascular, mucosal, and lipid layers. A blood gas analyzer was integrated as a calibration reference standard for SO 2 to ensure traceability. Two multispectral endoscopic imaging methods were validated using the phantom system. This cost-effective platform addresses the current gap in standardized evaluation of endoscopic devices for physiological parameter visualization.
