Abstract: OBJECTIVE: Penile fracture (PF) is a rare but serious urological emergency. This study evaluated the clinical outcomes of PF patients who underwent surgery and the factors affecting the development of postoperative erectile dysfunction (ED). MATERIAL and METHODS: Thirty-five patients who met the criteria and underwent surgery for PF in our clinic over 10 years were included in the study. In the retrospective review, the patients’ demographic, clinical, and surgical data and the relationship between postoperative complications and ED were examined. Patients with preoperative ED were excluded from the study. Erectile dysfunction was defined as an International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) score of <22. All analyses determined the statistical significance limit as p <0.05. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 38.8±12.79 years. A statistically significant relationship was observed between age at presentation and ED (p<0.001). When concomitant diseases were examined, the rate of ED was statistically significantly higher in individuals with diabetes (DM) (p<0.001). No statistically significant relationship was observed between trauma mechanisms and ED. The mean defect length was 46.7 mm ±5.16 in the patient group with ED (p<0.001). CONCLUSION: Age, diabetes mellitus, and length of tunical defect are predisposing factors for ED. In the presence of these conditions, early and careful intervention and informing patients may contribute to preventing complications. Keywords: erectile dysfunction, IIEF-5, penile fracture
