(P Objective: To investigate the effects of acupuncture at the “seven acupoints behind the occiput” on anxiety, depression, and clinical symptoms in patients with persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD). Methods: A total of 96 PPPD patients were randomly divided into a treatment group (acupuncture at the “seven acupoints behind the occiput,” n = 48) and a control group (oral escitalopram oxalate tablets, n = 48). After 28 days of treatment, the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) dizziness symptom observation scale scores, and clinical efficacy evaluations were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the reduction in HAMD and HAMA scores in the treatment group was significantly greater than in the control group (P < 0.05), and the improvement in TCM dizziness symptom observation scale scores was more pronounced (P < 0.01). The total effective rate in the treatment group was 93.75%, which was higher than the 64.58% in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture at the “seven acupoints behind the occiput” significantly alleviates anxiety, depression, and dizziness symptoms in PPPD patients. Its clinical efficacy is superior to drug intervention, demonstrating high application value.
