Enhancing net zero decarbonization strategies: a comparative analysis with the analytic hierarchy process
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper comprehensively analyses decarbonization decision-making using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). With a pressing global mandate to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, systematic approaches are essential for effectively selecting and prioritizing decarbonization strategies. Applying AHP, this study evaluates and ranks strategies based on key criteria. Each criterion’s weighted priority reflects its significance in decision-making, highlighting the dominance of Social Equity and Environmental Impact in prioritizing decarbonization strategies. The findings underscore the real-world applicability of the AHP framework, providing policymakers and stakeholders with a structured decision-making tool to prioritize actions that balance environmental sustainability, economic feasibility, and social equity.
