Abstract: The hydrothermal aging temperature of silica templates plays a crucial role in determining the structural and functional properties of mesoporous SnO 2 materials synthesized via nanocasting. In this study, mesoporous SnO 2 replicas were prepared using KIT-6 silica templates aged at 80 °C and 100 °C to investigate their structural, textural, and gas-sensing properties. Small-angle X-ray diffraction (SAXRD) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analyses confirmed that increasing the aging temperature enhanced the mesostructural order, leading to improved pore interconnectivity and larger pore sizes. The crystallite sizes of SnO 2 (K6-80) and SnO 2 (K6-100) were determined to be 7.94 nm and 10.17 nm, respectively, influencing the materials’ gas-sensing performance. The sensor based on SnO 2 (K6-80) exhibited the highest sensitivity to ethanol vapor (18.73 at 300 °C), attributed to its higher surface area (96.97 m 2 /g), smaller crystallite size, and well-ordered mesoporosity. The findings demonstrate that optimizing the hydrothermal aging temperature of KIT-6 silica templates significantly affects the physicochemical properties and sensor performance of mesoporous SnO 2 , highlighting its potential for advanced gas-sensing applications.
