Study design: Clinical Trial
Abstract: This study investigated the influence of an interactive system with auditory feedback on English language learning in visually impaired people. It was hypothesized that such a system significantly improves English listening and speaking skills in this population. The research adopted a pre-experimental design (G: O1-X-O2) with a sample of 24 participants with various degrees of visual impairment, selected from the Pampas Hospital, Peru. Pre- and post-intervention tests were carried out to evaluate listening and speaking skills, using a system developed under the DESED methodology and evaluated with the ISO/IEC 25010 standard. The results showed an improvement of 31.94% in listening ability (pre-test: 24.54%; post-test: 56.48%) and 38.64% in speaking ability (pre-test: 15.15%; post-test: 53.79%), confirming the general hypothesis (p < 0.05). The system obtained a quality rating of 9.36/10. These findings highlight the potential of inclusive technologies to overcome learning barriers in people with visual impairments, opening new educational and social opportunities.
