Effectiveness of biodesinfection with 6% hydrogen peroxide and silver ions in different indoor environments

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: A geração de resíduos é um dos grandes problemas das sociedades atuais, estando presente Bioaerosols causes significant public health concerns globally, often linked to environmental contamination. They are composed of biological particles suspended in the atmosphere, contribute substantially to air pollution and can harbor infectious microorganisms. This study evaluates the effectiveness of no-touch dry vapor technology using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and silver ions in disinfecting indoor environments, aiming to optimize cleaning processes. The study, conducted in urban and rurais settings, involved monitoring chemical and physical parameters alongside microbial presence before and after sanitation. Results demonstrate substantial reductions in microbial load following sanitation, with notable efficacy against bacteria and fungi. Additionally, correlations between disinfectant concentration and microbial suppression highlight the importance of proper dosing. Notably, H2O2 emerges as a promising disinfectant due to its antimicrobial activity and minimal environmental impact. Furthermore, diferences in microbial concentrations between urban and rural áreas underscore the influence of environmental factors on microbial distribution. The study also identifies microbial genera resilient to sanitation, suggesting the need for targeted disinfection strategies. Overall, aerosolized H2O2 shows potential as an effective tool for microbiological control, with implications for public health and environmental quality. Further research is warranted to optimize its application and establish guidelines for safe and sustainable use.
