In India, paddy is cultivated in an area of 46.38 million hectares producing 130.29 million tonnes and in Tamil Nadu, paddy is cultivated in an area of 2.21 million hectares producing 8.07 million tonnes. The present study was conducted in marakanam Block of Villuppuram district. A pre-tested and well-structured interview schedule was used to gather the data, and common statistical procedures like mean and percentage analysis were used to rank and categorize the respondents. The difficulties faced by the study area's respondents were gathered and tabulated under four categories: (a) Physical constraints (b) socioeconomic constraints (c) Institutional constraint and (d) Technological constraint. The precarious situation of farmers can be improved if the issues mentioned above are effectively resolved.
