Abstract: Relevance Today, in Russia, especially in the Far North, there are many oil fields with low potential for development, due to small oil reserves and difficult conditions for its preparation, which makes the development of such fields economically impractical. Oil heating is an integral process of field preparation, existing heating systems in some cases have disadvantages, such as: high cost of installation and operation, fire hazard and low efficiency. Aim of research To prove the prospects of using induction heating of oil in comparison with tubular furnaces, assessing such aspects as reliability, safety and efficiency. Research methods Computer modeling in Comsol software, conducting a comparative analysis of the applied technologies for heating oil from low-yield deposits in the Far North based on statistical and analytical research of reliable scientific sources presented as methodological manuals and scientific publications to identify the dependencies between different heating methods and oil characteristics. Results It has been established that induction heating systems can be widely used in the extraction, preparation and transportation of high-viscosity oils. Downhole heaters and steam generators, heating systems for pipelines with highly viscous products can be made on this principle. There is a significant potential for using induction systems for heating shut-off valves at oil refineries.
