Abstract: In this paper we show that the Wilsonian effective action and any correction associated to a scale in quantum field theory can be implemented by introducing extra space time degrees of freedom to the tree level theory. In order to do that we present two explicit examples: the Φ 4 theory and QCD in the background gauge field method.
