Contribution of DFIG Wind Turbine System using ADRC controller to Primary Frequency Regulation
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This study aims to examine the capability of a variable speed wind turbine (VSWT) featuring a doubly fed induction generator to assist in grid frequency regulation. To achieve this contribution, the VSWT system needs to inject an extra power into the grid if required. To do this, the droop frequency control strategy is employed, which incorporates a deloading method that enables the VSWT system to establish a reserve of active power. The PI controller and the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) has been used to control and manage the generator rotor side converter (RSC), in order to assist the power system during frequency disturbances by adjusting the rotor speed of DFIG. The performances of these control strategies are evaluated and compared through simulations conducted using MATLAB/Simulink software.
