Digitally recording the jaw relations for rehabilitation of mandibular edentulous arch with fixed implant-supported prosthesis: A case report

Abstract: Accurate jaw relations records are essential for the success of full-arch implant-supported prostheses, particularly in completely edentulous patients. Traditional methods of recording jaw relations often involve complex clinical steps, increased chair time and higher chances of human errors. The All-on-Four concept, which enables immediate function using only four implants, demands a precise occlusal scheme and maxillomandibular relationship to ensure long-term stability and patient satisfaction. Recording the jaw relations is a critical step in a patient with an edentulous arch in a completely digital workflow. This case report aims to present a fully digital technique for rehabilitating a mandibular edentulous arch with a fixed implant-supported prosthesis by digitally recording jaw relations. The method involves scanning a Printed Resin Record Base (PRRB) with a wax rim using an intraoral scanner after placement of four implants, with the opposing maxillary denture in place at the established vertical dimension of occlusion. It is particularly suited for cases where the lower complete denture is unavailable, and the opposing arch includes a complete denture or natural teeth.
