Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article presents the results of an empirical study conducted by the authors on the current state of employee utilization in agricultural enterprises, focusing on the impact of specific elements within the employee adaptation system on the labour productivity of newcomers as one of the key indicators of personnel utilization. The research direction was determined by the increasing shortage of qualified personnel in Ukraine’s agricultural sector, as confirmed by a series of previous studies, highlighting the need for enhanced human resource management practices, particularly through the improvement of newcomer adaptation processes. A set of metrics was developed to assess personnel utilization and facilitate benchmarking in agricultural enterprises. The analysis focused on four key indicators: 1) Turnover rate; 2) Attrition rate; 3) Replacement rate; 4) Labour productivity. The conducted research indicates that personnel management in the analysed agricultural enterprises is relatively effective compared to other sectors. At the same time, it reveals specific areas requiring improvement. The study highlights the importance of labour productivity among new employees as a key characteristic of personnel utilization and establishes the influence of specific elements of the adaptation system on their productivity. The results of the correlation analysis confirmed a statistically significant relationship between elements of the employee adaptation system and the productivity levels of new hires. Accordingly, the effective implementation of adaptation system elements such as «Availability of a flexible adaptation program», «Clear functional responsibilities, goals, and tasks», «Fair and transparent salary system for the adaptation period», «Involvement of company management in adaptation programs», and «Use of modern adaptation methods» can substantially enhance the productivity of new employees during their initial integration into the company. Future research prospects have also been identified.
