Impacto en la crianza respetuosa en el desarrollo emocional y habilidades sociales en niños de Latinoamérica: una revisión de la literatura
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In the Latin American context, in generations prior to the present, punishment and violence predominated as bases of parenting; however, in recent decades the number of proposals has increased to abolish such practices, and several factors have promoted this change. Therefore it is proposed to carry out a literature analysis to compare respectful parenting with other parenting styles, as from a literature review to determine benefits on children’s and adolescents’ development based on their behavior; (2) Methods: A descriptive and explanatory literature review was realized; with research articles about respectful parenting in Latin America from 2019 to 2024 was carried out; (3) Results: 14 research articles were selected due to their closest relation to research variables (social skills and emotional development); most of them report, among their results, that respectful parenting style is the one that produces better effects on various areas of development. Another significant finding is that not enough research was found on a national scale about the topic. (4) Conclusion: Social skills and emotional development are essential for children’s growth because they allow them to interact effectively with others and handle their own emotions. A few of the skills are empathy, effective communication, problem solving, emotional self-control, cooperation and teamwork.
