Dores remanescentes da ditadura brasileira: uma análise comparativa do livro Prova contrária e do filme Hoje
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In this article we offer an empirical analysis of the pain associated with difficult historical periods, with a theoretical focus on issues of film adaptation (Hutcheon, 2003), based on the film Hoje, by Tata Amaral, and the book Prova contrária, by Fernando Bonassi. We discuss the sequence of events in both works, which are related to episodes of the Brazilian military dictatorship and its consequences, and we explore the anguish of the characters in this context. The hypothesis presented is that the film is a faithful adaptation of the book, broadening the possible interpretations by mixing different pains that complement those present in Bonassi's text, also seen as historiographic metafiction (Hutcheon, 1991). In this reflection we add new elements to the existing criticism, such as the approach to schizophrenia as a result of traumas experienced, contributing to the corpus of studies on the dictatorship period.
