Prioritizing high-risk populations for soil-transmitted helminth control in the Western Pacific Region

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: To achieve targets set within the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the 2021–2030 Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Roadmap, the World Health Organization (WHO) identify the need for improved data analytics to inform NTD control programs.1,2 While a recent study delivers high-resolution geospatial soil transmitted helminth (STH) infection prevalence estimates across the Western Pacific Region (WPR),3 the underlying data that inform the modeling highlight opportunities to re-consider the current classification of populations that are prioritized for STH control interventions.
