Abstract: This paper briefly illustrates a number of the provisions of EU law on mediation relating to disputes between private parties and the institutions, bodies, offices and agencies of the European Union. Based on the data available, an attempt is then made to undertake an initial assessment of the actual use of the mediation procedures analyzed and the role of mediation in the EU legal system.
