Abstract: Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors (FGFRs) regulate both excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmissions in vertebrates. In their work, Yanmei Tao and colleagues show that distinct FGF-FGFR combinations regulate the formation of inhibitory synapses at specific subcellular localisations within cortical neurons. To learn more about their work, we spoke to the first author, Zhengdong Wei, and the corresponding author, Yanmei Tao, Associate Professor at Southeast University, China.
