Abstract: The purpose of the study is to analyze the journalistic works of Mykhailo Hrushevsky in 1906, which reflect the author's perception and understanding of the agrarian reform in Russia, its necessity, content and prospects for its solution. The research methodology includes an analysis of Mykhailo Hrushevsky's socio-political journalism based on the principles of historicism and objectivity. The scientific novelty lies in the attempt to reveal, first of all, the significance of the journalistic works of the leader of the Ukrainian national-political movement, Mykhailo Serhiyovych Hrushevsky, in clarifying the scientist's approaches to solving the agrarian issue in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century through the prism of national-political and socio-economic interests, his assessment of agrarian projects submitted for consideration by the First Duma, the prospects for their implementation and perception by political forces. Conclusions. Analysis of the socio-political journalism of Mikhail Hrushevsky in 1906 shows that the scientist approached the solution of the overdue agrarian reform in Russia from the perspective of national-political and socio-economic interests. He not only assessed the agrarian bills submitted to the First Duma, but as a scientist and public-political figure in his articles he expressed a whole range of considerations aimed at improving and practical implementation of legislative initiatives. In order to fundamentally and urgently resolve the land issue in the Duma, he proposed adopting two general imperial laws: on the forced alienation of land surpluses in the interests of the agricultural classes and the creation of local committees, which, taking into account local conditions, would prepare and develop all the details of the future land management. Closely linking the agrarian issue with the decentralization of Russia on the basis of national-territorial and regional autonomy, Mikhail Grushevsky opposed the creation of a national land fund from alienated lands and defended the idea of creating autonomous land funds. The scientist believed that alienated lands should be transferred to the use of peasants. But he warned against hasty steps to transfer land into ownership, as this could create insurmountable obstacles to further adjustments in the agrarian issue. Mikhail Sergeevich associated the prospects and effectiveness of agrarian reform with the intensification of peasant farms and rational forms of management. The termination of the First Duma due to the possibility of adopting an agrarian bill showed that the agrarian issue was one of the main ones that influenced the political evolution of Russia.
