Abstract: With the advent of the post-genome era and the emergence of various high-throughput research methods, the acquisition and analysis of high-throughput data in the field of life science and medical health are increasing, and bioinformatics, which takes biological big data as the research object, has also received increasing attention. In this paper, the concept, development, and application of bioinformatics in the field of biology and medicine, including genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and other aspects of research, as well as the important contributions to disease diagnosis, drug development, and personalized medicine are described in detail. At the same time, the challenges faced by bioinformatics are analyzed, and the future development trend of bioinformatics is forecasted.
