Abstract: This letter reveals that the power synchronization loop (PSL) and the phase-locked loop (PLL) essentially share a unified synchronization mechanism, provided that vector voltage control is employed, and the q-axis voltage is coupled to the active power. However, the two synchronization control methods have different damping characteristics in respect to reference tracking and disturbance withstand capabilities. The theoretical findings are validated through experimental tests.
