Abstract: This article discusses the influence of liberal and progressive educational trends over the document which regulates the student's conduct at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina. It presents qualitative research that uses the dialectical method of analysis, oriented by Saviani, Libâneo and Sobrinho works and complemented by textual analysis elaborated with the Iramuteq software. After some investigation of Brasil's professional and technological education path and knowing a few of its characteristics and objectives, the researchers concluded that the document presents content that sometimes reinforces liberal and sometimes reinforces progressive educational trends. Therefore, it serves so much to model the student conduct as well as helps them reach integral development.
