Abstract: BVA President Liz Mullineaux, together with Association of Veterinary Students (AVS) president Jayson Hughes and Jack Pyman, AVS rep for Cambridge, met with senior leadership at the University of Cambridge at the end of June to discuss the future of its vet school. The provision of veterinary education at the institution has been in doubt following the RCVS' decision to award ‘conditional accreditation’ for its degree, giving the vet school 10 months to make improvements. During the meeting with Jon Simons, head of the School of Biological Sciences, reassurances were given by the university that it remains committed to the long-term future of the vet school and is working to address the recommendations ahead of its RCVS re-evaluation in the autumn. BVA knows the ongoing uncertainty is difficult for Cambridge students, alumni and staff, as well as the wider profession; however, the undergraduate course remains accredited and it's clear the university is taking steps to ensure its future.
