Diversity of Genus Litsea in Western Ghats of Karnataka, India

Abstract: Complete stretches of Western Ghats of Karnataka have been sampled for identification of Litsea and particularly eight different study sites were sampled to know the diversity and ecological parameters.The diversity data indicated that Kemmannugundi region having higher density value followed by Mullayyanagiri, Madikeri, Kodachadri, Agumbe, Yellapur, Sakaleshpur and lower density showed in Karkala region.Individually L. floribunda showed higher diversity values in all the study sites.Higher number of species observed in Sakaleshpur region having ten species and only one species occurred in Mullayyanagiri region.
