Abstract: Today private law entities (individuals and legal entities) found themselves under the sanctions pressure exerted on the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, despite the large array of legal acts establishing anti-sanction norms, there is no uniform understanding of both the legal nature of the anti-sanction legislation, and the subject area of normative legal acts that can be included in this system. The paper substantiates the understanding of anti-sanction legislation as a form of retaliatory legal measures taken by the authorities of the Russian Federation in order to minimize the harmful effects of sanctions. The author considers three types of basic measures: 1) special economic measures (sanctions and anti-sanctions), which in practice can also be non-economic, but, in any case, have a coercive nature and are connected with the economic sphere; 2) measures to support national legal entities against whom sanctions were applied; 3) other measures that are usually aimed at restoring the situation violated by the sanctions, or are designed to prevent sanctions’ negative influence. The shortcomings and prospects of such legal regulation are noted. The author concludes, that there is a need for a comprehensive application of these measures, taking into account their variability due to the instability of the foreign policy situation.
