Type: article
Abstract: The paper explores the presence of the opera genre in the repertoire of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and the directorial approaches to concert-stage versions of operas performed at the institution. The author explores a selection of these projects and analyzes the specifics of realizing a director’s vision within the concert-stage environment of the Philharmonic. The study notes that since the late 20th century, the development of the opera genre on the stage of the National Philharmonic has become one of the key vectors of the institution’srepertoire policy. This process requires directors to adapt their staging concepts to the spatial limitations of the concert hall and the expectations of the Philharmonic’s audience. The article emphasizes the importance of selecting operatic works for Philharmonic performances that align with the capabilities and resources of the institution’s performers. A staging analysis is provided for the concert-stage versions of Family Album by Jerzy Kornowicz and the monoopera works of Vitalii Hubarenko, as performed in the Column Hall of the National Philharmonic. Particular attention is paid to the expressive tools employed in the director’s work and the specific strategies used to adapt the director’s vision to the Philharmonic’s stage environment.
